Hello, my name is Caitlin and I am the face behind Golden Heart Therapy. I am originally from the US where I obtained a Master's degree in Mental Health Counselling with a speciality in Art Therapy. After working in the states for several years, I moved to the UK where I worked for nearly 10yrs in the NHS. In January 2024, I decided to set up my private practice, Golden Heart Therapy, where I specialize in women's mental health - from tween/teen girls to perinatal women all the way through to menopause.

Since becoming a mother myself, I have experienced first hand the lack of support and understanding during this highly vulnerable and transformational period in a woman's life. Being a mother can be one of the hardest and most isolating experiences for a woman - from trying to conceive, baby loss, a difficult pregnancy, birth trauma, post partum difficulties, all the way to the turbulent teenage years. It is my passion to normalize the many challenges faced with matrescence (the process of becoming a mother) and support all you incredible women showing up each and every day for your family. Working with me is an investment into your health and well-being. I strive to create a safe, nurturing, and supportive space for you to take care of your needs just as you take care of those around you.

I am registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and a full member of the British Association of Arts Therapists (BAAT). Since qualifying in 2011, I have taken further educational courses in a variety of trauma-focused models. In 2018 I trained in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and in early 2024 I qualified as an EFT (tapping) Practitioner. I consider myself an integrative psychotherapist in that I draw from a variety of theoretical models and approaches to create a session tailored to the client's specific needs. During my career I have worked with individuals struggling with complex mental health difficulties, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, body image, self-harm, suicidality, ADHD, ASD, and complex trauma.

Research has consistently shown that the therapeutic relationship is the number one predictor of success in therapy. When choosing a therapist it is important for you to feel that it is a good fit. I believe the best way to do this is to have a simple conversation. Therefore, I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation to all perspective clients with no obligation to continue on for therapy. If you are interested in working together, please reach out to see if I am the right therapist for you.
